Just in time for all your fall decorating, I finally finished my Wisteria Tree in full bloom.  (Yes, it is a spring time plant, that is the trick.)

New Home, New Gallery

The Duplex

Third Life Books is moving to a new island and I am moving along with them.

The first image is a wonderful new duplex shop the Amazing Kat Alderson created for me.  She has taken a bunch of prims and pixels and turned them into a a place of beauty. It is the Wind River Territory – a sim named after the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming and modeled on a typical frontier town in Wyoming, circa 1885. New Home

I have always wondered about having a home in Second Life, I have rented a few, built some on my own land, but them were mostly places to change.

There is something special about this place that made me want to settle down and actually make a home here.  And thanks to a hunt recommended by Kitty Otoole on her .  blog Kittywitchin.com I have a wonderful new pool.

Western Mira

So I have added a new look, Western Mira. I am very excited about the new duplex that Kat built me. Half of it will house my art gallery, and the second half will have my other random creations for sale.  There are not any links to this beautiful place yet, as Kat is still making it more wonderful, but as soon as I can, I will add a link so you can come join me in exploring this treasure, but in the meantime, I will be on the balcony of my gallery painting the beauty. Making room for art.

§ August 1st, 2009 § Filed under My Journey, Thought § Tagged , , § No Comments

A friend asked me “SO, tell you me how you got back to your Artist persona?”

What I answered was:

That is a good question. It has been a bit of a journey and I started to write the answer quickly yesterday. I stopped because it is not something I can answer quickly with out running the danger of being flippant. Which is nothing more than my own inner critic saying she is asking to be polite and not really wanting to know. The truth is it is intimidating, hard and incredibly rewarding. I have never completely given it up, it just became buried and masked as a “crafter.”
At one of the midnight sessions for waiting for a Harry Potter Book to come out with the kids I found myself sitting in the “self help” section of the Bookstore in line. Embarrassed at being there, I was mocking some of the books, and I picked up Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” Instead of mocking I started reading. Since then it has been a series of little leaps of faith, with good and bad results. More good than bad and I have to fight self sabotage every day. Most of the bad results have been a result of either my own or someone else’s self sabotage.

Since then I have had several people ask me the same question.  Each and everyone has said I am so envious, or I wish I could do that.  I have come to realize that there are lots of people who have been damaged by the system, their inner artists crushed and broken. I am struggling with finding a way to help those crushed creative folks learn to create again. I have also been following several blogs and podcasts on creativity, and while they are inspiring and wonderful, I feel like Goldilocks, this one is a little too big, this one a little too cool, this one is a little too hard. Nothing fits.  Well, this is the first in what I hope is a series of blogs and podcasts that fit for not only me, but others as well.

Right now I am involved with creating a co-op gallery and studio space in my town, and I am active in Second Life.  a three dimensional Internet environment.  This blog will be about both.
